Take the Online Class

"Excellent presentation. Brought up issues that I was not aware could be a potential problem."

"Great class- I wish I took the class before the divorce. I think this class is not only for divorcing families but for all family members so that parents have a better view on parenting."

"It gave me some different viewpoints and helped me realize some of the "mistakes" I’ve (we've) been making. I actually broke 5 months of no speaking, and dropped restraining orders while i was going through the course."

" I liked the videos from professionals ranging from judges to attorneys. It was helpful to hear their perspective."

" Even though my ex-husband and I have the most ideal divorce (if there is such a thing),and I thought that we were doing everything right for the most part, I learned a lot from this class. Going into with the mindset that it couldn't teach me anything new, found out very quickly that I was wrong. It showed me several areas where both of us co-parents could use improvement. I will be using these tools I learned here for the rest of my life."

Making Two Homes Work Online Co-Parenting Class
Parenting Education and Family Stabilization Course Court Approval Statement

The Between Two Homes®: Making Two Homes Work online coparenting class satisfies the requirements and exceeds the guidelines for co-parenting education and parenting education and family stabilization courses in many states and many courts.

You may have visited other online programs that claim to guarantee acceptance of their course by the judge in your court. Some programs even have search tools allowing you to search for your county and the website will reveal that their program is approved in your county. This is false and misleading advertisement intended to mislead and exploit you, the consumer. Our course meets the criteria in for the State of Texas, for example:

A course under this section must be at least four hours, but not more than 12 hours, in length, be designed to educate and assist parents with regard to the consequences of divorce on parents and children, and presented by a mental health professional who has at least a master's degree with a background in family therapy or parent education. The course must include information on the following issues:

  1. the emotional effects of divorce on parents;
  2. the emotional and behavioral reactions to divorce by young children and adolescents;
  3. parenting issues relating to the concerns and needs of children at different development stages;
  4. stress indicators in young children and adolescents;
  5. conflict management;
  6. family stabilization through development of a co-parenting relationship;
  7. the financial responsibilities of parenting;
  8. family violence, spousal abuse, and child abuse and neglect; and
  9. the availability of community services and resources.

While we meet the criteria, in reality each judge can determine what is or is not acceptable to meet that court’s specific criteria. Many sites do not list information about the course presenter/developer or their credentials. Other sites do list the credentials of the presenter/developer but the individual(s) do not hold a Master’s degree in family therapy or parent education…thus not meeting the criteria for Texas or possibly your state, county, or judge.

Some online course providers will claim your course will be accepted by your judge, but if your judge will put in writing that the court will not accept their certificate of completion the program will fully refund your money. What the course provider cannot refund you is the time you wasted on their program due to their deception nor will they volunteer to refund you the fees for your attorney. Further, most judges will not put in writing the denial of a program so you may find you wasted your time and money.

If you are taking this course to satisfy the requirements of a court, please check with your attorney and/or judge prior to paying for this (or any) course if you are not sure if your judge will accept our online class.

If you believe your time and/or money was exploited by a course falsely advertising their program was guaranteed to satisfy the requirements for your court, and your judge then did not accept their certificate of completion, I encourage to you file a complaint. Further, if the professional providing the class is a licensed mental health professional they are likely regulated in regards to making false or deceptive claims in their advertising and you may file a complaint against their license or certification.
