Frequently
Asked Questions
What
is the purpose of the Seminar?
The Seminar uses a different strategy for assisting high-conflict parents. Rather
than continuing to focus on the conflict itself, the Seminar offers a “back
to parenting” approach wherein high-conflict parents learn the
basic principles of coparenting, and develop the skills to apply them.
How
is the Seminar structured?
The Seminar
is presented within ten Classes, with additional training
available as needed. The first four Classes
are “instructional,” and include all Seminar members
in a classroom format. Remaining classes
are “applied,” and may involve small group (w/o the Coparent),
individual, or coparent couple work.
How
long does the Seminar last?
Classes are held once a week. If coparents are able to attend
regularly with no interruptions, the Seminar can be completed in 8 – 10
weeks.
How much does the Seminar cost?
The Enrollment Fee is $620, and covers Classes 1 through 8, and additional
fees vary according to format. Small Group sessions are $65, individual
sessions are $125, and coparent couple session are $130.
How
do I enroll?
Enrollment can
be accomplished by emailing, faxing or mailing the enrollment
packet. The Enrollment Fee can be handled
by a credit card online, a credit card over the telephone,
or mailing a check.
What
if I attend but my Coparenting Partner doesn't?
The Seminar is based on two principles: (a) conflict
damages children;
and (b) coparenting reduces conflict. A child with one good
coparent will face less conflict than a child with no good coparents. A
child with two good coparents, moreover, has a reasonable chance of
surviving the family breakup and salvaging a healthy childhood. (Note: A “Solo
Track” is available for moms or dads whose coparenting partners are unable
or unwilling to participate.)
When
does the Seminar begin?
A new Seminar (the “Monday Class”) begins the first
Monday of every month (with the exception of August & December). A
second Seminar (the “Wednesday Class”) will also be available, as
permitted by enrollment. [Note: To avoid scheduling
problems associated with vacations, school start-up and holidays, Seminar classes
are not offered during August and December.]
